The weirdest part of SA was the OG Loc mission where your character suddenly grew a conscience for like 5 seconds before agreeing to murder someone. It was this weird cognitive disconnect where you've literally murdered hundreds of people. Same goes for the entire setup with the cops.
The second is a bit buggy but absolutely worth playing afterward. I hear that Mafia’s story is a lot better than Cyberpunk’s, and I’m the type of guy who puts the story as a priority compared to the visuals and graphics. Super strong story, gameplay is good fun, graphics are drastically improved over the original.
My question is - Mafia II: Definitive Edition worth 10 dollars on sale? I hated mafia 3 due to the terrible story & repetitive mission structure (shame because the soundtrack wad amazing), so I need help deciding if I'll enjoy mafia 2 - Any comments are appreciated, thanks in advance. The amount of detail that they've put into the city is obscene. Story driven: The game is linear set in an open world, and each mission takes you to the next part of the story.

The first version, without a doubt, has more mature and lasting dialogues. I haven't played Mafia 1 original but after playing it's definitive edition I know that it's original would have been great too. Do not hesitate! I really recommend trying the first version as well. There are significant differences in the story.

For some reason playing at Fullscreen locks the fps to below 60 making it barely playable. I saw this as a potential fix in a forum somewhere and has worked since for me. Found and tried it as well since my monitor takes ages to switch the refresh rate and Mafia forced 60hz on fullscreen (kinda stupid, though).

The heavy story beats from the original just don't hit at all in the new one. The main character is not presented in a way that would make them likable. In the new one, there's no cohesion between the elements of the scenes. It's like the original execution of the story was very carefully though out, but in the new one there was no director who
MAFIA: Definitive Edition is *rough*. I had wanted this game for a long time and I'm so glad I never ended up paying for it and got it for free through PS+ because BOY OH BOY is this game rough. I recognize that it's a remake of an old game, so some gameplay elements might feel a bit dated, but it's not even that.
Mafia II, but play the original, if you have Steam, it's called Mafia II Classic and on modern Xbox systems it's shown as a 360 game. The DE of that game got messed up. Of course there's the option of original hardware, but that's a bit less attainable. r/MafiaTheGame.

So Mafia remake looks better and has more "modernized" controls and is easier, at the expense of a quite a lot of cut content. If you are ok with the graphics and controls being 20 years old, and being more difficult, I'd absolutely recommend the original over the remake. Skullhammer98. •.
