With proper maintenance, the 3.7l cyclone has proven to be very reliable with a life expectancy of over 200,000 miles. The engine is perfect for individuals who don’t need lots of engine power but simply want a reliable and efficient engine. It is a satisfactory engine for light use and good on power and has mileage. 2.
In 2011, the 3.7 Cyclone V6 became a standard engine in the Ford Mustang replacing the 4.0L Cologne V6. It was commonly known and marketed as the 3.7L Duratec V6. The 3.7L Duratec has a cast aluminum alloy cylinder block with contemporary architecture. It has a removable rear main seal cover plate and a structural rear sump cast aluminum oil
I've driven a the old 2.5 Duratec in the Contour, and the current 3.0 in the Taurus, and neither one feels or sounds as good as the Mazda's. The Mazda's strength is once you get going, plowing through curves and making the most of the engine's powerband. The stock Ford version of the engine wouldn't work as well in that context.
The non turbo 3.5 v6 is rated at 283 hp. My 2016 F150 reg cab short bed 4x4 has good mid range and top end power. I wouldn’t try to tow too much though. Mileage isn’t great. I have never gotten more than 26 mpg highway and around town get around 15. Knowing that , it is a good basic no frills engine.
Today I drive and review a 2023 Ford F-150 XLT 3.3L V6!Ask For Kellen:
Tech Talk. 2L Ford Duratec + NC MX5 5 speed. Looking at Engine/Gearbox options for the long term Eskie plan. Came across this mentioned a few times on the interweb, just wondering if anyone has any ideas on the validity of it all? As I understand it the 6 speed is a no-go. Mainly looking at this because Sierra T9s are getting long in the to

The 08 3.0 and the 3.5 are completely different motors from top to bottom. one is a cyclone motor (3.5) and one is a duratec (3.0) would it fit yes, however the cost to do it would far outweigh selling your car and buying a 3.5L sport as you will have to gut the car's electronics and rewire the The 3.5L engine actually offers the highest towing capacity available on the F-150. That holds true for payload capacity, too. However, chances are the 2.7L engine still offers plenty of towing capacity for most F-150 owners. If you are planning on towing heavy loads often the 3.5 EcoBoost is the better choice. If you have a high mileage engine there isn't going to be any real harm in adding a seal softening agent to the engine's oil. After years of heat cycling and age those seals have a tendency to harden. On the Duratec, this means the shaft type seals and the pre-shaped O-ring type seals such as used on the timing covers and valve covers.
Duratec Oil Consumption. About a month ago I put a new 2.3 in my ST. The stock motor was consuming massive amounts of oil. (Had 77k on the clock, and every oil change was done by a Ford dealer.) I have since put a new to me, (used) motor in it. According to the seller it had 35k on it, although I believe it sat for a while.
Feb 5, 2018. #1. I ran across some information on my Mazda’s (Ford) Duratec 3.7 V6. Looks like the Water Pump is internal to the engine and driven by the timing chain. Any failure by gasket or pump can trash the engine quickly by spilling coolant into the oil. I read somewhere the 2012’s have a beefed-up impeller making the failures less Further, the 3.5 Duratec engine is smaller than the conventional V6 engines as it can fit in smaller engine bays. The official power output of the Ford 3.5 Duratec engine is 265 HP and 250 lb-ft of torque on 87 octane gas. This power production is higher than the Duratec 30 and floored other V6 engines when it was released.
3.5 L Ti-VCT Reliability. First of all, with the timing camshaft applied, it enables the engine to have natural aspirations. It works better along with the cooling system of 14.25 liters or 3.76 gallons. Second, the firing system used is coil on plug (COP) with the fuel system of sequential multi-port fuel injection.
9 Mercedes 5.0/5.4. Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes-Benz 5.0-liter M113 V8 engine is one of the most reliable German V8s out there, both in normal form and in AMG guise. The M113 was the last of the over-engineered Mercedes engines, meaning that it was durable and maintenance on it was minimal. Via DRIVE2.
