I am certain on what I have said though. However consider that with the nuance of difference between the backstab attack animations of the dagger and straight sword, the times where one would whiff and not work and the other actually would work would probably be incredibly few anyways.

I never use it to actually dodge an attack, but I will use it to use a weapons’s sprint attack when I don’t have the room to sprint. Like with the Uchi, the backstab / sprint attack does a quick stab (with thrust damage and you don’t run any danger of the swing bouncing off the walls) where the roll attack is a horizontal slash.

I've recently bought Dark Souls Remastered on PC and I'm enjoying the game itself so far but the camera is acting weird in certain areas. For example, when I move anywhere near the first bonfire, the camera starts spinning to the left whenever I move forward. It's not the "sweet spot" because this works identically on varying weapons. What's actually happening is the riposte or backstab, which is generally 1 or 2 punches for minimal damage and then the crit hit, is logging as 1 hit of the weapon, and then the crit hit. So instead of a grab/punch for 15 damage before the crit, it's a bonus, free hit The backstab has to click "on" now, meaning it has to be in "allow to be backstab" mode. You can see this in action at Hunstman Copse. When Merciless Roennae invades get behind her and try backstabbing while she's attacking. She can't be while her switch is "off" (I've literally dagger slashed her back to stunlocked lack-o-backstab death).
Discussion. I see now why Dark Souls 1 is considered the greatest. I never thought this game would ever live upto the expectation. Before I started playing the dark souls remastered, I used to think this game was over-hyped and overpraised by the Dark Souls poise backstab veterans. Now I think about it I was so wrong.
It's the PTP (peer to peer) PVP, he saw himself backstab you, however because your machine was most likely faster (or some othe rlatency issue) you did not see what he saw. To fix this never enter any PVP on any fromSoftware game, unless you have the terrible internet and can take advantage of it.
It does look kind of weird. but I think most of the other animations in the game are better than most of what is in Dark Souls 1 and 3. It's a minor example but the prostration gesture has that much more fluid look to it in Dark Souls 2. And, of course there are the unique backstab and riposte animations. 13. Try to be close to the enemy for a backstab, the closer the better. Also, when sneaking up to an enemy who is unaware, be sure to walk, and having armor that doesn't make noise is better.
